What is THE HPQ?
In line with our vision to empower all students with the knowledge, skill and character that they need to succeed, all of our students in Years 10 and 11 complete the The Higher Project Qualification (HPQ) as part of their Level 2 qualifications.
This is a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification (equal to a GCSE) where students select an area of interest for themselves and complete a guided, group and then an independent project. They conduct research, create products, think critically, present their ideas, and develop their power skills through their project work. By the February of Year 11, their project is assessed and a final grade is achieved.
Students have set guided hours with a teacher who delivers content on how to complete a successful project, followed by time to complete their work under the supervision of the teacher.
To achieve this qualification, students must be challenged to demonstrate their knowledge of a chosen area while developing invaluable Power Skills that will empower them to stand out amongst their peers.
