This begins with our ambitious and well-balanced curriculum, which challenges all learners and nurtures their individual strengths. For those who show exceptional ability or potential – our More Able students – we provide additional opportunities through a carefully designed provision that stretches and inspires them to go even further.
The term More Able reflects our inclusive approach, describing students who are performing significantly above age expectations or who have the capacity to reach that level. We also recognise High Achievers – students who excel in one or more specific subjects. Using a range of assessment methods and teacher insights, we identify these students and closely track their progress to ensure they continue to be challenged and supported.
Each subject area has clear criteria for recognising exceptional talent, and teachers set aspirational yet achievable goals to encourage challenge and growth. To extend learning beyond the classroom, our More Able students engage in enrichment opportunities such as STEM and national competitions, leadership roles within Student Voice, participation in the Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), and visits to universities and industry events. These experiences are designed to develop critical thinking, independence, and academic curiosity – helping every student to reach their full potential and prepare confidently for future success.
